Roof drains, or gutter-shaped drains, are typically installed on roofs at floor level. Their primary function is to drain water that wets the floor or rainwater. The gutter/parabola shape acts as a barrier against debris (dry leaves, plastic waste, etc.). If you use a drain that is flush with the floor, your floor will likely flood because the debris will cover the flat drainage surface.
